    De Hoge Veluwe National Park – 7 km

    Discover the De Hoge Veluwe National Park, the largest national park in the Netherlands. The Otterlo entrance is just a 10 minute drive from the campsite. The most pleasant way of enjoying the Park is by bike, with over 40 km of cycle paths and free rentals available to guests to enjoy the variety of landscapes and animals throughout the park.

    Veluwezoom National Park – 35 km

    Another national park is well worth a visit: Veluwezoom National Park is the oldest national park in the Netherlands. It is home to a wide variety of animals and plant life. Hills, forests, heathland and sand dunes. The park can be visited by foot, bicycle or horseback. With a little luck you may even cross paths with a deer or wild boar during your visit.

    Top tip for visitors: And be sure to climb the Posbank which is a 90 metre hill with a breathtaking view.

    Passiflorahoeve butterfly garden

    Located on a disused farm, this garden is home to five butterfly greenhouses. Not to mention a wide variety of plants: Passionflower, Fuchsia, Hibiscus, Dahlia, Iris, Lily, etc.

    Kröller-Müller Museum – 10km

    Nestled in the heart of the De Hoge Veluwe park, take some time to contemplate the works of art on display at the Kröller-Müller contemporary art museum. The museum is home to an impressive collection of artistic works from the likes of Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondrian, including the world’s largest private collection of works by Vincent van Gogh.

    Burgers’s zoo – 25km

    Get back in touch with nature with a visit to this exceptional zoo. 45 hectares dedicated to protection of endangered species, and recreated natural habitats: African savannah, dessert, mangrove, Asian tropical rainforest and coral reefs. Head off and discover elephants, panthers, gorillas, lions, snakes and sharks during your visit.

    Radio Kootwijk – 17km

    Rather uniquely, in the heart of the wilderness, between moorland and sand dunes, named the Kootwijkerzand lies the surprising building home to Radio Kootwijk.

    Apeldoorn – 27 km

    Apeldoorn used to be home to the Royal Family and lies in the Veluwe and plays host to a number of cafés, restaurants, art and culture. The town is also known for its Royal Palace named Het Loo

    Cycling and hiking

    Head off to discover Veluwe by foot or by bike across the many trails directly accessible from the campsite. At the entrance to the Harskamperdennen Campsite there are two marked hiking trails covering 3.5km and 6km.

    Local gastronomy

    The Veluwe Region is a must-visit culinary destination. Discover the many farmers and producers of organic regional produce. A part of the region is nicknamed “Food Valley” thanks to its choice of restaurants including some with Michelin stars. In 2021, the World Food Center opened its doors in Ede, offering even more opportunities to learn about the agro-food industry in this rather unique region.

    Groote Stroe goat farm – 6 km

    The goat farm offers a wide range of organic farm-raised goats cheeses. It is possible to visit the cheese-making factory and spend a morning walking the goats.
